ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE FAR EAST.....

As the daughter of an Arab prince, I grew up by my father in the Far East in the 18th century. I am a half blood and do also not look like an Arab woman. My hair is almost as white as the full moon at night and my skin is as pale as the dough from a flatbread. This comes from my mother's genes, she was a light-skinned, blonde and blue-eyed beauty from Europe. During one of my father's many travels, he saw my mother as a passenger on a ship and immediately fell in love with her. Since my father was a very handsome man, my mother fell in love with him too. So, after a short while my father took her as his wife and a few months later she gave birth to a little girl named "Zeina".... *Smiles.

Nevertheless, fate unfortunately did not mean well for my parents, because my mother died shortly after my birth. My father suffered immensely because he loved her beyond death. Full of grief, he travelled with me back to his Arab principality after her death. There he devoted himself to witchcraft, because he could not and would not accept my mother's death. Many alleged sorcerers came to my father's house from all over the world, but it was always obvious that they were impostors. During this time, I grew up, learned the art of writing, reading, painting and belly dancing. I enjoyed learning new things and even secretly learned the language of the strange People who stayed at my father's house. What was scary for me was that these guys were not visible at all during the day, but as soon as night fell, they seemed to be everywhere. I must admit that they frightened me because they also looked quite dark. However, my curiosity was stronger than my fear and so I often eavesdropped on their conversations with my father, which I did not understand at that time because of the foreign language. I watched, listened and memorized the words with the gestures I saw and wrote down how I heard what and what it could possibly mean. I did not go unnoticed.

I must have caught the interest of one of my father's guests. He introduced himself to me as Lord Kain and taught me that language, which I quickly learned. Lord Kain, however, radiated a sinister aura for me. In fact, he roamed the lands as an assassin who even murdered women and children for the sheer joy of killing. He had cruel instruments of torture at his disposal, which he even tested on random beggars for his own amusement. Waging wars was also a very great passion of his. But I did not know all this at that time.

Years passed and my father became very seriously ill and passed away. I buried him next to my mother and so they could be reunited in death. The scribe of our house handed me my father's written last will and testament. I read his words and obeyed reluctantly. Lord Cain and my father had made a pact years before, for whatever reason. Since I was not yet of age when my father died, Lord Kain was appointed my legal guardian and I had to travel with him to his cold, dark land to live with him. I knew by now through my late father's stories what a monster Lord Kain was and I developed a great dislike for him. I didn't like the land I was now living in either and I did everything I could to make my displeasure known.

His castle looked like a ruin and not like a cozy home where one can find security and warmth. The entire rooms of this castle seemed dark and cold to me. Even the 2 servants looked like living corpses and did not speak a single word. Their every movement was through facial expressions and gestures. The thought of living here amid this darkness was horrible. Again, what I didn't know at the time was that this was all planned by my father from the beginning. My life was to change from the ground up.

My father could not bring my mother back from the dead, but he wanted me, his beloved daughter, never to die. Forever young and beautiful, that was what my father wanted for me. But did I want that too? Did I want to walk the earth forever? And if so, as what? This question was soon answered by my guardian Lord Kain.

Yes, he was a devil, cruel and merciless and there was a reason why he was like that. He is a child of the night, a vampire who was to make me his equal.

I remember very well my embrace, my transformation. It was a cold clear full moon night and I lay restless on my bed. I couldn't fall asleep because I had a bad migraine, so I got up and opened one of the big windows. Suddenly something big and dark flew into the room. I was frightened and wanted to flee, but I didn't get the chance. This creature grabbed me and threw me onto my bed, then pounced on me and pushed my body down mercilessly. I could not free myself from its firm grip, so I lay there, completely terrified and not knowing what this creature wanted. Then HE laughed and I recognized that devilish laugh. On top of me lay Lord Kain and in the moonlight his fangs flashed, approaching my neck menacingly. The migraine was blown away, because the pain on my neck, caused by the bite, was a hundred times worse. I could not defend myself and so I surrendered to my fate. It took me a long time to learn to be a child of the night. As a vampire I encountered many creatures of the night and through the bites of some demonic creatures, caused by inevitable fights, I turned into a vampiric shapeshifter. Every night, condemned to drink the blood of the living, I walk through the world and by now I am even able to adapt effortlessly, to change into any shape I see in my mind. In this way I mercilessly satisfy my blood hunger without being recognized. Many vampires, coming from all winds, crossed my path. One worse than the other, lying, corrupt, and vile .... *Giggles.

In the realm of Progeny, the land of vampires. I found something I never dreamed of. An Arch-Vampire took me into her bloodline and through the Source’s blood magic I became her daughter. But that’s another story. They say that the undead are incapable of love, which may be true, but it doesn't apply to all children of the night. Because my vampiric mother loves me 100%. As an infernal, linguist/translator, photographer, I try to do my best in Progeny for all eternity .... *Laughs devilishly!
