Restoration Draught

  • For centuries, as the battle between the vampire blood lines raged on across the world, the vampire race dwindled on the verge of extinction. The recklessness of the younger vampires showed that there needed to be an intervention from the venerable members of the Arch Vampire Conclave to preserve the vampire race as a whole. A secret sect of Vampire Alchemists working for the Arch Vampires gathered together to solve this problem. For decades they counseled amongst themselves to find a way to stop the inevitable doom. An exhaustive search through old texts and ancient tombs yielded nothing of use. Every scrap of parchment revealed the same answer, the one answer they did not want to face, that though vampire death is not final, when a vampire eventually runs out of undead regenerative energy they will turn to dust and the continuous combat between these undead creatures hastens the process. They were in disbelief, after all they were the perfect race, and they were immortal. They continued to search and search for anything that would save their race. While the bitter wars between the bloodlines raged on, both vampires old and young continued to succumb to an eternity of dust.

  • When all hope was lost on keeping the vampire race from extinction a miracle happened. In the depths of the crypt of one of the eldest vampires was an etching upon the lid of his stone sarcophagus. When translated from what humans would later call Linear-B, it read 'Thy will be revived and healed automatically if thy corpse is bathed in moonlight.' The alchemists gathered once more to test if this would be their salvation. They waited until the time of the full moon drew nigh. Upon the highest peak in the most sacred of mountain ranges under the blazing stars, laid within an ornate brass coffin the corpus of a fallen vampire lord. They watched in anticipation as moonlight crept slowly across the land. For hours there seemed to be no indication of change, then moments before accurse rays of the sun broke across the horizon they saw that the corpus began to congeal and regain that near deathlike pallor. They dared to think 'We have found the answers,' but their hopes were dashed and it was not to be, at least not yet. The vampiric corpus was set ablaze even before the full strength of the sunlight was upon it and the restoration failed.

  • Losing all hope the Alchemists and the Arch vampires began to try anything. They tried mixing the vampires remains with fresh human blood. They tried concoctions of every variety. They tried incantations and spells, but none seemed to work. When all tries had failed the Arch Vampires began to argue among themselves, not wanting to accept their impending doom. They became hysteric and thought to lock themselves up in a fortress, so they the most variable and ancient creatures, could be preserved and thus weather the ever so slowly passing storm.

  • In a final attempt the Alchemists searched through the libraries of their elders and found new light shed upon well known facts and inspirations of the ages. All vampires whom are slain or become starved into a slain state from a hunger induced coma go through a natural regenerative cycle that can take many-many nights. After many transitions, if the vampire is not restored while in that coma the vampire will eventually lose their ability to make a recovery and decend into final death and wither to dust. Vampire Alchemists of long ago had discovered how to revive a vampire who was in a hunger induced coma or whom had naturally revived to a coma from being slain. This is done with a fresh infusion of vampire blood charged with bloodline potency from one of the reviving vampires own bloodstream. This was successful in the restoration of an undead vampire from a coma state, however all efforts failed when they tried to revive a vampire whom was in the twilight space betwixt coma and dust known as being Slain.
  • They thought and thought and eventually came to the idea that if they could bring humans back from death with the 'Draught of Life' then there must be a way to do the same for vampires. Thinking back and searching in the archives they stumbled upon this partially forgotten bit of lore, 'Some believe this potion of life to be the spirit of God,' essentially the life essence of the creator of the human race. They thought, 'why not use the life essence of our Diabolic Source, the creator of the vampires and unlife.' The Alchemists rushed to test this idea. They decided to attempt a forsaken ritual, the summoning of a patron diabolical and beseeched her to approach the Source on the subject. In an angry fury the Diabolical hissed and said 'I will agree to bring your plea to the Source but those whom are reduced to dust will never be revived but only by Diabolic Intervention and would come at a price. The risk is yours to take.' The Source knew how such a magical infusion could be made, direct Ichor of the Source would not have the desired effect even on a vampire reduced to dust. But Ichor infused with potency energy, vampire blood, and a few secret reagents could yield the desired results, but at a small cost, the vampire whom is recovered feels the hunger more keenly.
  • Vampire Restoration Draught is a mixture of Vampire Blood, Source Ichor, Raw Potency Energy (unlife), and the Plasma of one soul fished from the very fires of Hell itself. The alchemical process itself is conducted by the Source's Hellish Imps, in the hellscape lab that exists in the spaces between hell and the material planes of existence. This, yes this was now their cure. They hastily went to test if this was indeed the cure from final death. They poured the contents of the vile onto a corpse of a slain vampire. Almost instantaneously the vampire was restored to full health. They tested this on different corpse with the same effect. The only difference that they noticed was the increased hunger that was present when a vampire was slain recently. This seemed to curve at the 10 day mark, any vampire that was restored before 10 days had a raging hunger. The other side effects of this concoction are unknown, but it has been unverified reported that when revived there is decreased strength, slower healing, decreased speed, and even increased vulnerability to holy water and the like.
  • This Draught is powerful enough to revive a deeply slain vampire, one who is even in his final hour before discorporating into dust, however the Diabolic’s words rang true, this potion would never restore a vampire who has already fallen to dust. This potion will also revive a coma vampire or take an undead vampire to max health though it is not advised for such action as the impact on the vampires hunger could be horrible to behold if this powerful magic elixir were abused in that fashion.
