History:
The Children of Pandora Before mankind learned to fear the night, there was Pandora, the first woman crafted by the gods. A vessel of beauty and curiosity, cursed with a gift she did not understand. Mortals remember only that she opened a box and released sickness, sorrow, and death upon the world, but that was only half of it. The tale they tell omits the oldest truth: the box was not made to punish humanity. It was made to contain something far older.

The Sealed Secret
Inside Pandora’s box, beneath coiling plagues and shrieking spirits, the gods hid a remnant of a god they could not kill, a hunger that could never die. The Egyptians called that hunger Set, or Sutekh, Lord of Storms and Blood. He was no mere deity of sand and violence. He was the first being to discover that blood was memory, power, and immortality. When the gods tore that hunger from him, it required a vessel. It required a door. Pandora was that door. When she peered into the darkness, she did not merely unleash evil. The darkness peered back and bit her. The bite was not of fang, but of essence. A whisper in her blood, a command that rewrote her soul. Her heart slowed. Her breath stilled. Yet she remained alive, alive in a new, terrible way. Her veins filled with cold, luminous ichor. Her beauty became unbearable. Her hunger became absolute. Others had been claimed by the darkness before her, but none remained themselves. Pandora did what no one was meant to do. She survived it. The world did not yet have a name for such a thing. ________________________________________
The Curse of Hope
Mortals say Hope remained within the box, but they misunderstand. Hope was not salvation. Hope was the second half of Pandora, a radiant counterpart to the hunger she carried. Pandoran blood grants immortality and power. Strength beyond mortal limits. Senses sharpened to predatory perfection. Yet it also preserves emotion forever. Hunger, love, obsession, pain, ambition—whatever takes root in a Pandoran’s heart becomes eternal, unchanging, impossible to forget. Immortality without forgetfulness is not a blessing. It is torment. This is why Set once clawed at the gates of death, not to avoid oblivion, but to escape memory. ________________________________________
The Children
Pandora, desperate not to wander eternity alone, shared her blood. Those she loved became like her: pale, radiant, hollow, each a vessel for a single emotion that defined them. They did not age. They did not sleep. They did not die. Privately and fearfully, they became known as Paidiá tis Pandóras, the Children of Pandora. Each Child is bound to a fragment of what escaped the box: Wrath, Desire, Envy, Sorrow, Madness, shards of Set’s immortal hunger that shape their fate and compel them. Their thirst is not merely for blood, but for the emotions within it. Rage tastes like fire. Sorrow like wine. Lust like honey. Pandorans drink to feel alive. They drink to remember. They drink because they cannot stop. ________________________________________
The Box’s Return
Legends whisper that Pandora sealed something else inside the box before she vanished: a cure, a weapon, or perhaps the one thing they fear most, forgetting. Some claim it is the last untouched shard of Set himself, still pulsing, still waiting. If a Child of Pandora ever opens the box again, they may not just unmake themselves. They may awaken the god whose hunger birthed them all. If that happens, the Children will learn a final truth: Pandora was never an ending. She was the beginning of his return. And when Set rises, it will not be hope that dies, but the world that dares to remember him.
“What is sealed may yet awaken.”
