History:

Sanguis Novus was not built in a throne room. It was not forged in war, sworn into existence by a circle of elders, or
  born from the ashes of a fallen house. It began, as most things worth remembering do, at a table.

 Before the clan existed in name, before the bloodline, before the pledge — there was a diner.

 Neo Rookstown was mortal once. Barely remarkable by mortal standards: a charming nobody with an uncanny sense of
 hospitality and an inexplicable belief that pancakes were an acceptable meal at any hour. He ran a small, wildly
 unsuccessful late-night establishment that catered to night owls, drunks, and anyone the rest of the city had already
 forgotten. The place stayed open too late, served portions too large, and had earned a quiet reputation for being
 oddly comforting — and possibly cursed.

 That reputation turned out to be accurate.

 One slow night, a coven of Kindred walked in off the dark. They ordered stacks. Neo didn't ask questions. He never
 did. When one of them remarked that the syrup looked almost arterial, Neo laughed and topped it off.

 That was the mistake — or the beginning, depending on how you look at it.

 Impressed by his hospitality, his audacity, and his complete lack of survival instinct, the coven decided then and
 there to grant him immortality. There was no solemn ritual. No brooding speech. Just a bite, a toast, and the parting
 words:

 "You'd do well in the night, kid."

 Neo Rookstown awoke dead, hungry, and with an inexplicable craving for pancakes he could no longer digest.
